Governor Wolf of Pennsylvania is proposing $675 Million in bonds to support the developing green energy industry in his state. His plan would reduce dependence on fossil fuels and, in the long rum, would make money for the state. He feels that borrowing the money through bonds should be viewed as an investment in the state’s future.

The Chinese government is set to implement a new green technology program to encourage green industrial growth and development. China is currently polluting more and more every year, and hopefully this new program will address some of that problem. A large push for starting the program was to combat China’s huge problem with urban smog.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia has publicly stated that climate change has caused massive damage and loss of lives in his country. Rainfall patterns have changed and caused a water crisis in several states last year, while in other parts of the country massive flooding caused immense damage and killed people. He warned that ignoring global warming would only lead to further natural disasters.

The Eiffel Tower has been fitted with two wind turbines in an effort to make Paris more green. This follows a ban on cars in Paris’ downtown district. Though the tower will barely produce enough energy to power its own first floor, the real lesson here is the visibility of France’s commitment to green energy.

“Back to the Future” Engine Wins Funding

A supercharged biogas engine using concepts from Back to the Future has been selected for an award from the British government meant to support “game-changing” green technology development. 40 different technologies were funded in this first round. This is part of an initiative by Energy Catalyst, a UK project to tackle the energy “trilemma” of reducing carbon, reducing cost, and increasing supply.

Winnipeg’s Polar Bears Climate Controlled with Green Technology

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy is using a geothermal energy system to control the climate of their Journey to Churchill exhibit. This not only diminishes pollution caused by the energy needed for the exhibit, but also draws attention to the importance of using green technologies to stop global warming. Global warming is threatening polar bears, so fighting against it is of paramount importance.
