Asian-Style Green Revolution Unsuitable for Africa

The Asian Green Revolution has been amazing, but Ghana has found that it is not one size fits all. Agricultural intensification and greening requires that the process be adjusted to the local climate and flora. While rice and wheat were easily ramped up in Asia, these crops do not grow as well in most African climates. The lessons for the green revolution in Asia have been well-learned, though, and Ghana is forging its own way ahead.

An upcoming trade show in Bahrain will focus on green technology in the construction industry. There will be seminars, discussions, and even workshops about the new technology on show. Energy efficient products and sustainability are both in high demand in today’s world, and this has sped innovation throughout the industry.

Round the World Solar Flight Underway

The first attempt to fly around the world entirely under solar power began Monday in Abu Dhabi. If it succeeds, this will be the capstone to 13 years of research and development by the two Swiss pilots. The plane is about the size of a jumbo jet, but barely weighs more than a civilian car. I will watch this journey with interest.
