Studies Indicate Cahokia was Destroyed by Catastrophic Mississippi Flooding

Have you heard of Cahokia? In 1200 CE, it was the largest settlement in the Americas north of Mexico. By the time Europeans arrived, the site was abandoned and destroyed. The destruction was a mystery until now. There is evidence that massive flooding destroyed the city and its surrounding cropland. The more we know about this old flood, the better we can be at preventing a new one.
