Scientists Manipulate Plants to Build A Better Biofuel

Scientists are experimenting with growing plants that are low on lignin. Lignin is essential for plant health and growth, but it also impedes the extraction of cellulose and hemicellulose. Those are used to create biofuels. Less lignin means more biofuel efficiency.
